    Work related injuries are more serious than just a few paper cuts. Many days are being lost each year and the ever increasing cost of treatments and rehabilitation is putting a drain on company resources. As we know prevention is better than cure so one of the best ways for employers to prevent lost days and medical expenses is to provide better health and safety training. Simple guidance is how to prevent injuries, or how to spot possible problems early on my save companies thousands. 

    You should always make sure proper safety equipment is used at the correct times. Protective head gear, safety goggles, shoes and shields should be used when working in hazardous areas and should be fitted properly.

    Pay full attention when lifting heavy weights. Many people have suffered injury through lifting by not paying full attention to what they are doing; simply concentrating on the job in hand could save plenty of people from having accidents.

    If you find something to heavy to carry always get someone to help you. By getting another person to help you could prevent you from seriously injuring yourself.

    Back braces may not be fashionable but worn correctly they can provide essential support and encourage correct posture.

    Pay close attention to what your body is telling you. if you feel pain it is your bodies response to injury, so if you feel pain while completing a task you should stop and consult a supervisor.

    Beware of the specific injuries that is associated to your job. For example cashiers tend to suffer from carpal tunnel syndrome because of the repetitive motion of there job, while construction workers who use drilling equipment run the risk of contacting white finger disease.

    Make sure that all employees who use potentially dangerous equipment such as saws, drills, blow torches, nail guns and cutting equipment have a safety and prevention program to avoid and potential serious injury.

    When buying a first aid kit, which should be essential for all places of work, there should be at least one kit for every 30 people employed.

    Employers need to take into account and make arrangements to allow employees time of to recover. If the injury is server it may be necessary for the employee time of to recover, it may also be necessary to allow people time out during the day to attend Physical therapy.
